Movimento Bem Maior was founded in 2018 to strengthen civil society through what it calls strategic, collaborative philanthropy. Led by executive director Carola M. B. Matarazzo, it aims to tackle inequality and promote social justice by funding and building the capacity of grassroots organizations across all regions of Brazil.
Rather than run programs itself, it acts as a grant-maker and connector: it invests money, offers technical support and builds networks among its partners, and runs public calls that fund small organizations and collectives. We invest financial resources, provide technical expertise, and build networks so that our partners can increase the impact of their actions and promote virtuous and systemic changes in the Brazilian society.
